Subhash Chandra Bose, also known as Netaji, was an Indian nationalist leader who fought for India's independence from British rule.

He was born on January 23, 1897, in Cuttack, Odisha, India.

He was a prominent leader of the Indian independence movement against British colonial rule.

He was educated at the University of Calcutta and later at Cambridge University in England.

In 1923, Bose was elected as the President of the Indian National Congress, but he resigned the following year due to ideological differences with Mahatma Gandhi.

In the late 1920s and early 1930s, Bose was arrested multiple times by the British government for his political activities.

In 1940, Bose escaped from house arrest in Calcutta and made his way to Germany, where he sought the help of the German government in India's struggle for independence.

In 1941, Bose formed the Indian Legion, a group of Indian soldiers who fought alongside the German army during World War II.

In 1942, Bose formed the Indian National Army (INA) to fight against the British in India.

Bose also formed the Forward Bloc, a political group that aimed to unite all Indian parties.

Bose died in a plane crash on August 18, 1945, under mysterious circumstances.

He is considered a national hero in India and is often referred to as "Netaji," which means "Respected Leader" in Hindi.
